Affiliate Disclosure

How we keep the lights on without selling your soul.

Knowing Bitcoin is funded entirely by readers and aligned partners. We don't run ads, we don't track you across the web, we don't sell your data, and we don't accept money from anything that isn't Bitcoin-aligned.

How we make money

1. Affiliate links. When we review hardware wallets, Lightning services, hardware nodes, or other Bitcoin tools, we sometimes link to them through affiliate programs. If you buy through one of those links, we receive a small commission at no extra cost to you. We only join affiliate programs of products we would recommend to a friend. No exceptions.

2. Lightning tips. Readers who find a guide useful can send sats. 100% of those tips fund the site.

3. Sponsorships. A handful of Bitcoin-aligned companies sponsor banner placements or newsletter slots. Sponsors are clearly labeled "Sponsored" wherever they appear. Become a sponsor →

4. Digital products. Occasionally we publish paid PDFs, checklists, or templates assembled from our content. They're optional — the website is free.

What we will never do

  • Promote KYC exchanges (Coinbase, Kraken, Binance, etc).
  • Promote shitcoins, NFTs, or DeFi platforms.
  • Run intrusive ad networks (Google AdSense, etc).
  • Sell, share, or monetize your email address or browsing data.
  • Recommend a product we wouldn't use ourselves.

Editorial independence

Affiliate commissions and sponsorships do not influence our reviews or rankings. If a product we receive commission from has a flaw, we say so. If a competing product is better, we recommend the competing product (even when we get nothing from it).

You'll see this disclosure microformat near posts that contain affiliate links: <meta property="kb:contains-affiliate" content="true">. We also flag affiliate links inline with a small [#aff] indicator next to the link.

Current affiliate relationships

Updated periodically. Some programs don't pay until a minimum threshold is met, so this list will grow as we get accepted.

No active affiliate accounts yet — we're in the process of joining programs for the products we already review (Coldcard, Foundation Passport, BitBox02, Trezor Safe, Keystone, Jade, Voltage, Alby). This page will update automatically when each program is live.
